Antique American Stained Glass Windows
Antique American Stained and Jeweled Window/Ceiling. When I purchased this Window it was in very rough/fragil condition in a deteriorating curved frame. I flattened the panel and reinforced perhaps 50 joints. The panel was then recemented and new reinforcement bars added to the back side. A new flat frame was made using Sapele (a type of Mahogany) and measures 58” x 53’. As the restoration stands there are a couple of pieces in the fan shaped area which have cracks but other than that the window is in excellent stable condition. After some thought I decided that the Window was of a size and design which would be interesting if used as a ceiling. In an over abundance of caution I have placed a sheet of 3/16” tempered glass between the frame and the panel itself to provide support.
